Field Spaniel
Want to see your dog here? |
The Field Spaniel is a rare breed to find in the United States because of the popularity of the Cocker and Springer Spaniels. They are good with children as long as the playing doesn’t become rough. Active, smart and playful is how to describe this spaniel. It has been said they will become devoted to one family member and ignore the rest. If locked up in a kennel they can become very neurotic. An apartment or home with a small yard is not recommended for this dog. They need to run and have room to do so. Exercise should be daily consisting of a good run and playtime. Their coats should be brushed a couple times a week. Average size for the male and female is 18 inches in height and weighing between 35-50 pounds.

Finnish Spitz

This is the national dog of Finland and is even mentioned in some of their patriotic songs. If you wanted a quiet dog this is not the dog for you. He is a barker. Not just at the sound of a doorbell, but at the sound of anything. In Finland he is known as the “barking bird dog”, barking up to 160 times in 1 minute. Aside from the barking he is a loyal and loving pet, at times demanding your attention and affection. He is a seasonal shedder. His coat requires regular brushing. Apartments are okay for this breed as long as a daily jog or run happens. Males and females will be 15-20 inches in height and weigh between 31-35 pounds.
